Operating methods and precautions for disposable infusion sets
Before use, medical personnel check the disinfection validity period and packaging of the disposable infusion set for air leakage and other abnormalities. Remove the infusion set, hang the conical joint part of the infusion bottle on the infusion rod, exhaust the gas until the medicine flows to the lower end of the infusion tube, close the regulator, and then insert the intravenous needle into the disinfected vein. After fixation, loosen the tourniquet and adjust the flow rate.
Precautions:
There are bubbles left in the pipe during exhaust
There are often some small bubbles in the infusion tube at the lower end of the Murphy's tube. Although the bubbles do not move down with the liquid due to the surface tension of the gas, they can bring a sense of distrust to the patient.
Solution:
Before hanging the infusion bottle that has already been inserted into the infusion device onto the infusion stand, first fully close the regulator, then hang the infusion bottle. Then, use your left hand to fold up the plastic tube at the bottom of the Murphy tube, press the Murphy tube with your right hand to allow the liquid to enter about 1/2 or 2/3, and raise the end of the infusion tube with your left hand, Slowly release the regulator with the right hand (also note that when the liquid reaches the joint between the scalp needle and the infusion tube, the regulator can be closed slowly so that there are no bubbles left at the sample joint), which ensures successful exhaust and no small bubbles inside the tube.
What to do if there is occasional gas in the tube of the infusion set
Due to the incomplete extraction of residual gas from the bottle during dosing, the liquid overflowed from the exhaust pipe just after inserting the infusion device, causing the gas entering the exhaust pipe to directly enter the infusion pipe.
Solution:
When inserting the infusion device, place the liquid bottle in the upright position, insert the exhaust pipe first to allow excess gas inside the bottle to be discharged, then invert the bottle and insert it into the infusion pipe to avoid liquid overflow from the exhaust pipe. At the same time, pay attention to not facing each other when inserting the exhaust pipe and the infusion pipe, and not too close to observe the initial intake situation to avoid this phenomenon
