How to care for closed suction tubes?

The nursing steps for a closed suction tube are as follows:
Preparation: Wash hands and wear gloves, prepare cleaning supplies such as gauze, physiological saline, sterile syringes, etc.

Check the suction tube: Check if the suction tube is intact, undamaged, and ensure that the tubing is unobstructed.

Cleaning the outside: Gently clean the outside of the suction tube with warm water and soap, then wipe dry with a clean gauze.

Cleaning the interior: Rinse the inside of the suction tube with physiological saline, inject physiological saline into a sterile syringe, insert it into the connection port of the suction tube, slowly inject physiological saline, and then withdraw it. Repeat this step until the inside of the suction tube is clean.

Disinfection: Put the clean suction tube into a disinfection basin, soak it in disinfectant for a period of time, and disinfect it according to the instructions of the disinfectant.

Drying and storage: Remove the disinfected suction tube, wipe it dry with clean gauze, and then store it in a dry and clean container.

Regular replacement: According to the advice of a doctor or nurse, replace the suction tube regularly, usually every 1-2 weeks.

It should be noted that strict aseptic procedures should be followed when nursing closed suction tubes to ensure the correct cleaning and disinfection process, in order to prevent the occurrence of infection. If you have any questions or doubts, you should consult a doctor or nurse in a timely manner.
